ENTERTAINMENT AND CHARITY, AN UNBEATABLE TWO-IN-ONE IN THE CHALLENGE

Can you imagine a unique competition with elite golfers pooling their talent to collect funds for a great cause? You will have the answer at The Challenge, an exciting match-play event with four highly-regarded players that will take place on Tuesday 14th at 4 p.m at the La Reserva Club golf course.

This new event will add golfing flavor to an already packed week of exciting initiatives at the Ladies European Tour’s inaugural La Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational, an event hosted by Annika Sorenstam and to be played from 14 to 19 May at the La Reserva Club de Sotogrande golf course.

The Scottish Catriona Matthew, winner of 11 international titles and European captain for the next Solheim Cup, and the Spanish Noemí Jiménez, local player who dazzled in her amateur years and is already firmly established in the Ladies European Tour, will play against the battle-hardened Manuel Piñero and Jean Van de Velde, both with a long list of international achievements in individual and team events such as the World Cup, the Ryder Cup or the Dunhill Cup.

Excitement awaits all who attend this 6-hole fourball match-play event in which golfers will play from the same tees. Moreover, ties at each hole won’t be allowed and the organization will use different skill challenges as “playoff deciders”. Good shots will be duly rewarded, and all the birdies, eagles and aces will add to the amount donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), an entity that plays a fundamental role in cancer research and in supporting cancer patients and their families.

“I’m delighted to play in The Challenge and to be in such illustrious company. Bringing for the first time a Ladies European Tour event to Sotogrande is a great honour for us and having the chance to collect money for the AECC rounds off a great tournament. This event will serve as an unparalleled showcase and we are excited at the possibility to show all the changes and upgrades we are doing at La Reserva de Sotogrande. We are doing our best to make our course one of the best in Europe and we are reaching our goal”, said Manuel Piñero, ambassador for La Reserva de Sotogrande.

If you would like to enjoy the tournament and support the AECC, please sign up at the tournament website and book your tickets today. We look forward to seeing you at La Reserva!
