La Reserva Club is proud to be selected as the only place in Spain where you can sample the Ultra-Premium and organic Champagne brand Grande Charte. These champagnes are produced in very limited quantities, not advertised publicly or available through luxury retail channels. Instead, they choose an elite selection of high-quality restaurants and resorts to be their embassies throughout the world and have a Collectors’ Club for wine collectors and connoisseurs. This is the only way you can enjoy their sustainable and exquisite wines and we are delighted to be able to offer our guests these very special Champagnes during our Valentine’s dinner on February 14th.
They will have the privilage to taste GC-5 Collection 4 Cépages, made up of 70% Pinot Noir, 12% Pinot Blanc, 9% Chardonnay and 9% Pinot Meunier, which was bottled in 2013. This has been scored 18.5 out of 20 by jancisrobinson.com, 94/100 by Kenichi Ohashi MW and 96/100 by Andrea Pritzker MW. Anne McHale MW from England commented, “Really gorgeous nose of summer berries and flowers balanced by more savoury undertones. The mousse is fine on the palate and the wine is superbly balanced. At first taste it is much tight-knit and well-structured, but with time in the glass thevoluptuous texture emerges. The finish is long and savoury.”
The style of the wines throughout the collection are pure, precise and intense, coupled with delicacy and freshness. You will notice that the mousse is delicate and almost ethereal. They are releasing an annual collection of cuvées chosen by their expert winemakers and they currently have four stunning Champagnes to choose from.
GC-5 Collection 3 Cépages is made up of 80% Meunier, 15% Pinot Noir and 5% Chardonnay and was bottled in 2012. It was scored 18/20 by jancisrobinson.com and 95/100 by Andrea Pritzker MW who commented, “Opens with a highly expressive bouquet of just-grilled brioche, freshly baked pastry, hazelnut and delicate notes of strawberry with a distinctive smoky mineral edge. Very fine and pure on the palate with a lovely integrated mousse and chalky mineral acidity providing backbone, line and length. Finishes long, carried by notes of toasted brioche and summer berries. A Champagne of great precision, intensity, freshness and delicacy.”
The GC-5 Collection 2007 Vintage is 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay and is both Kenichi Ohashi’s and Andrea Pritzker’s favourite of the Grand Charte cuvée selection. Kenichi scored it 97/100 and commented on its “truly bone dry style with sublime balance” and Andrea also scored it 97/100, calling it a “complex Champagne offering an appealing juxtaposition of richness and power with delicacy and finesse.”
Last but not least is the GC-5 Collection 2004 Vintage, which is also 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, and according to Debra Meiburg MW has a “graceful aged complexity which brings depth and richness to this wine.” She adds, “The intriguing palate is full-flavored with excellent intensity and hints of toasted nuts, dried orange peel and spice. The wine’s impressive weight is elevated by a fine bead of acidity. Gentle red fruit hints on the palate enhance a round, soft, generous mousse leading to a fine, persistent finish.”
