As has become customary, the clubhouse at La Reserva Club Sotogrande is transformed into an exhibition hall to house the photography collection of Cuco de Frutos.

Since last year, we have been stripping the walls of our patio to let works by different prominent artists dress the space. After the photographic exhibition of Alexis de Vilar ‘THE THIRD EYE’ and the pictorial artist Sara Clavo with her collection ‘SE LLAMA CALMA’, it is the turn of Cuco de Frutos with ‘REDISCOVERY’.

He is one of those Spanish photographers who settled in New York after spending 20 years in Madrid. From the city of skyscrapers, he runs his studio and makes his incredible trips all over the world, in search of that unrepeatable moment of incalculable beauty. Each photograph tells a story from his unique perspective.

Always in search of beauty, Cuco de Frutos’ collections show the world as he sees it.

“I have been passionate about photos since I was very young. I printed my first photo in 1991, a sunrise on a beach in my hometown. When I started to travel, I realised that the camera allowed me to capture corners of the world through my vision in photographs”.

To delve into his photography is to discover, everyday moments or simple things in life, from a different point of view than what we might be used to. This is the feeling that prevails in this limited edition of his collection. The internal discourse of this exhibition is marked by a reflection during these years of a pandemic: we have not reinvented ourselves, we have rediscovered ourselves.

Cuco de Frutos is a specialist in photography with strong contrasts and reflected light that evokes emotions and moves the viewer. Through a selection of his best creations, he shows us this process of reinvention in which he has reworked his works, giving rise to a unique collection. Reinventing oneself also means thinking about what is important in life and valuing what we are, what we have, and where we come from. That is why La Reserva Club de Sotogrande is the perfect enclave. A location that provides all the necessary elements to transmit the essence and origins of the artist. The ideal combination to transfer part of his work from the United States to the Campo de Gibraltar is the south of Andalusia, the Mediterranean Sea, and an exclusive complex with exceptional facilities.

Cuco de Frutos has had two exhibitions in New York: Reflections” and “The Shape of Water”; two in Madrid: “La mirada buena del chico malo” and “NYContrasts“; and two in Altea: “Tiempo de cámara” and “Desde mi ventana“.

If you are looking for cultural enrichment with an exhibition in Malaga or Cadiz, this is the perfect option. The photography exhibition “Rediscovery” will be on display in the courtyard of Casa Club La Reserva Club Sotogrande until the 12th of June.
