In 2017 La Reserva de Sotogrande welcomed the classic car rally, the Sotogrande Grand Prix, as part of this five day event. During the rally, entrants drove from Seville, through Cordoba, finishing up here in Sotogrande. The Sotogrande Grand Prix was a showcase for some of Europe’s finest collectible automobiles and brought historic models such as OSCA, Bugatti, Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls Royce and Kellison to this area for the first time.

We were super excited to see Bugattis here and have developed a love of these exclusive and highly prized cars and wanted to tell you a little more about them.

What does the Bugatti brand stand for?

The brand came from a family of artists who were inspired by architecture, sculpture and design. They combined this sensibility with the latest and best motorsport technology to create an elegant and iconic brand of cars which prides itself on offering the extraordinary, the superlative and the best.

What cars do they make?

Chiron – Being dubbed as a “hypercar” this is a serious car, with a serious price tag which has been created to be “the fastest, most powerful and exclusive production super sports car in Bugatti’s history”.  There are a number of options for this extraordinary car, which starts at just shy of $3 million.

According to caranddriver.com “People who choose cars such as the Chiron do so because they want a vehicle that makes a jaw-dropping impact on the boulevard or at the valet stand. With its swooping lines and famously stratospheric price, the base Chiron certainly fits the bill. We think this model has what it takes to put a smile on the face of even the most discerning hypercar buyer.”

Veyron – The Bugatti Veyron is a legendary car for many reasons. It as named Car of the Decade by Top Gear and the Super Sport version is in the Guinness World Records Book as the fastest street-legal production car in the world, with a top speed of over 431 km per hour! The Veyron 16.4 has been dubbed the greatest supercar ever so of course is coveted by car collectors and enthusiasts around the globe.

Bugatti also make one-off models and have a proud heritage of classic cars which still stand the test of time. Bugatti’s design director chose the Bugatti Type 35, Type 41 Royale, Type 57 SC Atlantic Veyron 16.4, Vision Gran Turismo and the Chiron in his list of the most iconic models of all time and they were all revolutionary.

The stunning looks and legendary reputation of Bugattis, make them sure to attract attention wherever you go.  The speed, power and control makes it a pleasure to drive on winding country roads and around the track.

If you’re planning on driving around Sotogrande, there are loads of great options. The roads are quiet and in great condition and so you can blast along the toll road, or take to the winding roads through the beautiful countryside. The Ronda road is a famous route, winding up to the historic and stunning town of Ronda, with its epic gorge. We are lucky enough to have the Ascari circuit within easy reach of La Reserva Club, which is perfect for a trackday to really put your car to the test. There are also many historic and fascinating towns within a few hours’ drive of Sotogrande, so if you love to drive you have loads of great options to explore. We’d recommend visiting Malaga, Granada, Seville and Jerez, all within easy day trip distance, or ideal for an overnight stay if you want to enjoy the brilliant food culture and nightlife in these vibrant cities.
