We’re delighted to unveil a new menu at The Beach. It focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, selecting the best fresh, local produce and treating it with the upmost respect. Alongside classic Andalusian dishes, the menu features Asian flavours and an exceptional selection of sushi and sashimi,  so there’s something for everyone.

Head Chef of The Beach, Daniel Ortega Carrasco, has worked for some of the best restaurants in Spain, including the Michelin starred El Celler de Can Roca in Girona. He’s worked at the prestigious Restaurant D.O.M Meliá Puerto Banús, the Marbella Club and also taken his talents to the slopes as Head Chef of the El Lodge by the Marbella Club in the Sierra Nevada.

Here at The Beach, he’s bringing his skills for Asian and Mediterranean cuisine and his passion for the Km 0 approach to this year’s menu. This has led to a wonderful variety of fresh dishes alongside family favourites, always using the best local ingredients where possible.

We’re lucky to have wonderful fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish right on our doorstep and the team is committed to using it. So, you’ll find delicious tuna from Barbate and prawns from Sanlucar, just along the coast from Sotogrande, ripe, juicy tomatoes from nearby Coín and as many quality local ingredients as they can find.

Chef Ortega recommends trying the Octopus Pipirrana for a taste of Andalusia with a twist. He uses Korean kimchi to make this dish unique and brings an Asian element to this classic dish. He loves the sushi selection too, particularly the Sashimi Omakase and the signature Niguiris. His favourite main courses are the Arroz Negro – delicious black rice, paella style with squid, the Barbate tuna served with squid noodles and fresh tomatoes and the Retinta beef tenderloin. For dessert, he recommends the carrot cake with orange butter cream.

Alongside Chef Ortega and his team, we are very lucky to have a true sushi master here at The Beach. José María Viera has been dedicated to crafting the very best sushi for over 15 years and travels once or twice a year to Japan to continue his training in this complex culinary art. He discovered sushi, the culture and skill behind it while working for the Japanese-Mediterranean fusion restaurant Kabuki in Madrid and continued to hone his skills there and in the KBK Aravaka, also in Madrid. He returned to the South of Spain to open a Japanese restaurant at the 5* Villa Padierna Hotel before moving to open the first Omakase restaurant on the Costa del Sol, at Hotel Health House Las Dunas.

We are so delighted to have José María at The Beach, bringing his love of traditional Japanese food and his passion for pure, classic sushi to Sotogrande. His aim is to make The Beach a destination for sushi lovers to enjoy the best of the province and his menu is really exciting. He’s developed a great selection of tartare, sushi and sashimi dishes for our guests to enjoy. His current favourite is niguiri and he’s created a number of special dishes with innovative and unusual combinations, alongside the traditional niguiri selection.

He recommends trying the Niguiri Kimedai, delicious fresh white fish combined with sisho and lemon. He’s also particularly proud of the Nigiri Gyutataki, which features beef tataki, quail egg and truffle, for an indulgent and delicious bite. Last but not least, he’d recommend the Sashimi Omakase, the Chef’s selection of the finest sashimi of the day. From the main menu, he loves the Red Prawn Abanda, but make sure you get your order in for this at least 40 minutes before you want to enjoy it, to ensure it is at its very best.

With these talented chefs at the helm, incredible local ingredients and a spectacular setting, we know that dining at The Beach is going to be epic this season and we look forward to welcoming you here very soon.

It is open for lunch throughout the season and will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner between the 31st of July and the 22nd of August.
